Working with Agate
Agate is a relatively durable material and is resistant to most chemicals. However, some banded agate could separate along the layers within the stone if enough pressure is applied, so care should be taken when handling and during setting.
Treatments
Agate is frequently dyed to enhance or change its body colour completely. The absorption of the dye depends on the degree of porosity of the different layers within the agate.
