It works exactly the same as a propelling pencil. You simply press down the button on the end and push the ceramic stone 'lead' into the nib end where the little hole is. You don't need to unscrew anything. Once the stone is pushed in, with just 2mm or less showing then the button is released and the stone should stay held in place.
