You can change the battery by u sing a small screwdriver lever the battery compartment open, then insert the battery (1.5V silver button cell SR44 ) with the + side facing outward, towards you.
Then replace the compartment inserting the battery upside down may result to caliper failure, if the display on the digital caliper does not show 0.00 after the battery has been changed remove the battery, wipe with a dry cloth and insert again.
